New Orleans and the Superbowl

I can’t believe what I just experienced today. Since I arrived in the United States, everything has been incredible but this day surpasses everything. Tonight I was at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans to attend the Super Bowl. The real one.

The entire city seemed to vibrate just at the idea of this event. From the morning the streets were filled with supporters in red and green jerseys, music at every street corner, smells of donuts and barbecue… The atmosphere was magical. I felt like I was in a movie.

I managed to get a ticket to see the Kansas City Chiefs versus the Philadelphia Eagles. Just entering the stadium gave me chills. It’s huge, noisy, alive. All around me people were shouting, singing, laughing. Even without understanding all the rules of American football I felt I was going to live a unique moment.

The tension at the start of the game was crazy. The players were on the ball with such energy that sometimes it was almost brutal. Each action triggered waves of screams in the stands. I was up half the time without even realizing it, carried away by the general excitement.

And then half-time… Kendrick Lamar went on stage. Unbelievable. He sang his hits one after the other with lights everywhere and dancers all around. The whole stadium sang with him. I found myself singing too, almost screaming.

Frankly, even if I don’t understand all the subtleties of the game, I’m so happy I experienced this. It’s not just a game — it’s a real show, a party.

I think that’s the real American dream.
